He was elected with 99 of the 111 votes. The electors pointed out Wojtyła, appreciating his ability to lead the Church of Krakow in the post-conciliar chaos and under the pressure of communist ideology. They chose the Cardinal with pastoral experience, who came from „a far away country”, as John Paul II said about himself in his first words to the faithful in St. Peter’s Square. It was at 18.18 p.m. that the white smoke went up from the Sistine Chapel to signal the election and at 18.44 the crowds at St. Peter’s Square greeted the Pope John Paul II.

In the following days, John Paul II defined the priorities of his pontificate: the implementation of the Second Vatican Council teachings, the support for Christian unity and helping to promote peace and justice among nations. The words preached at the Mass for the inauguration of his pontificate, October 22, 1978: „Do not be afraid. (…) Open wide the doors to Christ „- have become key throughout the 27 – year pontificate.

The Sisters of the Presentation carry out the apostolic works in Poland, Ukraine and Italy. Their mission is mainly the education of children and young people. They run schools, kindergartens and boarding schools/colleges. Their motto are the words „Glory to God and His Mother”. Their ministry has been exercised in the deposits of papal clothing in Rome, since 2001 until today.

The Minister wrote in the visitor’s book: „A great Pope, a great man, a great saint – with respect and admiration – signature”.

In April, the Museum Family Home of John Paul II celebrates the fifth anniversary of its existence as a cultural institution (the signing of the establishing agreement took place on April 12).

The program „Think with your heart”, implemented according to the Dariusz Jakubowski’s concept, represents a kind of response to the Pope John Paul II’s call to the artists and to those who with passion and dedication are looking for new „epiphanies” of beauty, in order to offer them to the world in the form of art. The program consciously refers to the idea of a rhapsodic mystery of the word. This Idea was very close to John Paul II: no curtains and no scenes, decorations, costumes and masks.

This seemingly archaic form today is like a vase which, if filled with a relevant content, becomes the actual message in 2015.

It is a kind of dialogue between the prophet and the artist. The dialogue, in which the inspirations of John Paul II concerning love, beauty, suffering, freedom or death, result in the artistic response by means of words and music, and complement each other in the spectators-listeners minds and hearts, because only through their commitment and their focus, you can discover the idea of the project.

It is an interweaving of Z. Krasiński or St. Wyspiański’s monologue of with the W. Lutoslawski’s music of the twentieth century, A. Mickiewicz and J.Słowacki

‚s writings  with the K.Szymanowski’s song and with the Prokofiev’s Sonata, Z. Herbert’s contemporary poetry with Haydn’s classics and finally J.Donne’s mystical psalms with JS Bach’s polyphonic harmony. These are just examples which confirm that beauty and truth are always current, contemporary and alive.

On Saturday, April 11, at 18:30, in the Theatre Hall of the Cultural Center in Wadowice, there will be held a premiere of the concert.

Then, starting from September this year, the concert will be repeated according to the interest of visitors.

Two press presentation of the book have been organized:

• On March 26th, at the Metropolitan Curia of Cracow, with the participation of Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, Rev. dr. Bogusław Steczek – translator and book reviewer, Rev. dr. Dariusz Ras and with the participation of the author – Włodzimierz Redzioch. The participants had the opportunity to talk with people with whom W. Rędzioch had conducted a thorough discussion on John Paul II and whose considerations had then been placed in the „Unforgettable”. Among the guests, there were present, among others, Prof. Andrzej Półtawski and Mr. Stanisław and Mrs. Ludmiła Grygiel.
• On March 27th at the Headquarters of the Secretariat of the Polish Episcopal Conference in Warsaw, organized in collaboration with the Catholic Press Agency in Warsaw.

The book contains a collection of 22 interviews with St. John Paul II’s friends and closest collaborators, including an interview with Pope Benedict XVI.
