He was the first non-Italian Pope in 455 years, and what’s more, he was from Central and Eastern Europe, separated at that time from the free world by the „iron curtain”.
Today we thank God for this remarkable, almost 27-year-long pontificate and all the good that was done through him.
Celebrating this beautiful anniversary, we invited the inhabitants of Wadowice for a theater and film performance based on the Karol Wojtyla’s drama „Brother of our God”. In the play directed by Artur Dziurman, the title role is played by Maciej Jackowski, and he is accompanied by Iwona Chamielec, Magda Sokołowska – Gawrońska and actors of Integrative Theater of Blind Actor.
On the day of the anniversary of the pontificate of John Paul II, an artwork about Adam Chmielowski – Brother Albert has a special undertone. This is how the Pope wrote about this Cracovian saint in his book „Gift and the Mystery”: „For me, his person had a decisive meaning, because during my own movement away from art, from literature and from theater, I found in him a particular spiritual support and a model of a radical choice of a road of vocation.”
