We deeply regret to announce the death of Mrs. Joanna Bojarska – Syrek which took place on September 23, 2015, at 15.30. She was a member of the Council of Museum Family Home of Pope John Paul II in Wadowice (2011-2015), Director of the Historical Museum of the Capital City of Warsaw (2004 – 2012). The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, 29th September, at 14.40, at Stare Powązki cemetery in Warsaw.
Joanna Bojarska – Syrek (b. November 24, 1950, d. 23 September 2015) – a graduate of art history at the Catholic University of Lublin, teacher and museologist. For many years she has worked at the Acting Department of the National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź and at the Museum of Art in Lódź. She co-organized a Distillery Museum in Łańcut. She was deputy director of the substantive work and Senior Curator of a Castle in Łańcut. She was also the manager of the Educational-Didactic Department at the Centre for the Protection of Historic Landscape in Warsaw and then in 2003-2004 she was a member of the Team of the Plenipotentiary of the President of Warsaw for the construction of the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising. She also participated in the creation of the University Museum of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL).
Since mid-2011, she was a member of the Council of the Museum Family Home of Holy Father John Paul II in Wadowice and she contributed to the creation of a new permanent exhibition opened last year.
She received numerous honors for her contribution to the history and to the art:

Gold Cross of Merit
Silver Medal „Gloria Artis”
Gold Medal for the Protection of Places of Remembrance
Gold Medal „Merit for the Protection of Monuments”
Commander’s Cross of the Order of Malta.
